I cant’ believe time has flown so quickly. I’m left in a daze.
I got the opportunity to watch Hellsing: Ultimate last week. Everything I’d seen and heard of the show made it look to be a more gratuitous version of the original. Hell, even Hirano said they ruined his work by not making it “bloody enough.” After sitting through it, I can say with honesty that it doesn’t compare to the original. Despite a few regrets I’d had with the original, it managed to capture a great sense of… style. I would have prefferred it if they focused more on the substance of the story rather than making it “Cool”, but it was still a good show.
I of course picked up Dragon Age: Origins when it released, and though it is not by any means a perfect game, it is quite fun. I’ve barely progressed in the game at all, despite many hours poured into it, mainly because I spend so much time listening to dialogue between characters. Bioware went above and beyond on the writing in this one. I was playing Borderlands until its release, which judging from its popularity I have no reason to mention.
I’ve also been in one hell of an “Old School” phase. Found myself listening fondly to an EarthBound score thanks to a perusal of an unfortunate link. I’m seriously considering playing through it again now.
Perhaps more strongly is the inexplicable urge to play Popful Mail again. Truly a game of Epic and Win, I find myself gravitating towards it every two or three years, much like EarthBound and Chrono Trigger. I know I’m not the first to mention it, but in an age where publishers seem to thrive off re-releases and remakes, it is a damn shame we can only get multiple remakes of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. Where’s the old-school love? Where’s our Phantasy Star (PSU does NOT count)? Our Mother series? I know they released a DS version of Y’s Books I &II, but what about the rest?
WHERE IS OUR POPFUL MAIL?!?!
