Twilight Princess
November 23, 2007I finally got around to playing all the way through The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It felt good to go back to the adventures of Link and Midna. I’m ashamed I put it off for so long, but I found one obstacle after another getting between me and the game. The first being waiting for a newer (read: better) television to play it on, the second waiting for time to myself with which to enjoy as much of it as possible (read: vacation). I admit, I was a little worried that coming back to it after so long would dull the “magic” of its release. I shouldn’t have worried much. Though the initial excitement of its debut had dwindled with time, its addiction was fierce and powerful. After a few moments of being reacquainted with Midna’s sardonic attitude I fell back into the game very forcefully. And yes, I did start over from scratch. Originally I was planning to play all the Zelda games from the original NES release up to TwiPrin, but the desire to delve back into the latter’s story was too overwhelming. I regret making such a decision now. After completing TwiPrin, which was, in my initial bout to the halfway mark of the game already my favorite of the series, I feel that the series has doomed itself. The inclusion of more character interaction helped strengthen attachments and make everything more fun and deep. Also Midna. That and an ending that I knew would come about but wanted desperately not to happen really makes me think this is my last Zelda game ever. I’m in no way saying something bad about it. It was just that good. Also, Midna.
